Dr. Dorette Noorhasan is the fertility doctor who couldn’t get pregnant. For twenty years she has helped thousands of families welcome the children they dreamed of. Building her own took five egg retrievals, a gestational surrogate and every ounce of the hope she had spent a career handing to patients.
Born in Guyana and raised in the Caribbean as the eldest child of an immigrant family, she survived a stroke at 23 and kept going. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of the Virgin Islands, earned her MD at Boston University School of Medicine, trained in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas at Houston, and completed her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at New Jersey Medical School. Today she is double board-certified in both specialties and a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner.
She is the author of Miracle Baby: A Fertility Doctor’s Fight for Motherhood, the first book on fertility and surrogacy written by a doctor who has been both the physician and the patient, and The Fertility Manual. She hosts The Modern Parenthood Podcast and has been featured on The Girlfriend Doctor with Dr. Anna Cabeca and The Jeff Crilley Show.
A Texas Monthly and D Magazine Top Doctor and one of Castle Connolly’s Exceptional Women in Medicine, Dr. Noorhasan practices in Dallas–Fort Worth. On stage she is frank, funny and disarmingly human, whether the subject is infertility, resilience, menopause or who gets access to care.
